Infrastructure

Action Ireland Trust have built numerous Feeding Centres, Creche Facilities, Orphan Houses and Anti-Retroviral Clinics in the earlier years in South Africa in conjunction with Friends in Ireland and the late Marian Finucane.

Since 2011 the Charity have fully renovated St. Joseph Hospital in Roma withe new roofing, flooring, beds and lockers. We also installed solar panels and provided a hot water system which improved hygiene control and reduced hospital-acquired infections.

At Hlalele a rural village outside Maseru we have worked with the High School and we have provided new classrooms, science lab, administration block, kitchens, IT and music rooms. We have also constructed new toilets with a flushing system, septic tank and filter beds, this is a key investment in WASH, an international goal to provide water, sanitation and hygiene for the students.

We have also constructed a prototype for Early Childhood Development Centre at Ha Hlalele in association with UNICEF and the Ministry of Education and Training. This state of the art building will be a flagship model for similar projects in Lesotho.
